Sensing the danger that other elected representatives may speak out against the 'Friends of Shoebury Common' the crackpot Peter Lovett goes into attack mode.
Interesting stuff Peter. Newspaper reports from the first public meeting made interesting reading, especially the locations from some of the members of the audience.
One audience member from Billericay, a Beach Hut owner from Elmer Avenue in Southend and another resident from Burgess Road. The silence from Peter Lovett in condemning those who live outside of Shoeburyness is deafening. This is also not forgetting that Ray Bailey is also a resident of Thorpe Bay and Peter Grubb, their other sidekick who owns Uncle Toms Cabinet lives in Great Wakering.
This can only be summed up as more despicable hypocrisy from a very, very dangerous man.
It is not where people live, it is the fact they tell Shoebury what to do and then print lies to support more scaremongering, with no facts to support. Who said that all of Southend seafront sea walls will rise 5 foot? How can Great Wakering & Barling flood Southchurch Park? Canvey Island still shows 38,000 people in a flood plain, but the risk is still "Low" as is Shoebury Common. The River Shoe has flooded several times and in 1968 burst its banks to flood downhill into Shoebury Common Road. How can the sea then flood Shoebury Common and then run uphill to Southchurch Park or North Shoebury Park? The Thames Barrier has not closed 40 times a year - check their website to confirm. Beach re-charge would be welcome, with upgraded groynes to reduce wave pressures. It is better than removing sand on a commercial basis for 3 years, from Shoebury Common.
